G. W. Philbrook was born in Wooster Coounty, Maine, December 17, 1830 and died Monday night, November 4, 1912, aged 81 years, 10 months and 18 days.
When a young man, he moved to Ohio where in April 1860 he was united in marriage to Hattie E. Brown. To this union was born one son, Frnk M. who survives. In 1871 the family came toKansas. A few years later a daughter, Dora, now Mrs. Hugh Ashcraft, was adopted into the family. In 1893 the son married and with his faithful wife remained with and cared for the parents in their old age. Some six years ago, the wife has lived an earnest Christian life. His mind was clear and active until the end and in his last illness, he mainifested a deasire to go home.
Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church Tuesday morning and the body was laid to rest in Hillside cemetery.
