Kent Douglas Potter, 53, of Newton, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, September 4, 2014 at his home in Newton.
Born July 8, 1961 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Richard and
Marie (McFarland) Potter. He was raised and received his education in
Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1979. He then
attended Wichita State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s
Degree in Marketing and Finance in 1983.
Kent was married to Rhonda Knox on December 27, 1986 at Westlink United
Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas. To this union, a daughter,
Samantha was born. The couple later divorced. Kent began working in sales in the health care field and was currently
working for Broda Seating Wheelchairs in the sales and marketing
department. While at Broda, he served clients in Missouri, Oklahoma and
Kansas. He was with the company for over five years, and received
several awards. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield. He
enjoyed woodworking, tennis, running cross country, hunting, fishing and
especially loved spending time with his family.
His family includes: His daughter, Samantha Potter and fiance, Bryan
Cox of Wichita; His parents, Richard and Marie Potter of Winfield;
His sister, Karen Taylor of Belton, MO; and His several nieces,
nephews and cousins. Kent was preceded in death by his sister, Gail Lowther-Morton.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.
at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private family inurnment will
take place at a later date. A Memorial has been established with the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
