Isabelle "Chavela" Gonzalez, 86, passed away in her sleep August 28. 2014 at Newton Presbyterian Manor. She was born October 8, 1927 in Florence, the daughter of Francisco and Juana Puentes Gomez. Isabelle's parents, three brothers, Mitch, Trinidad, and Albert and a sister, Mercedes preceded her in death.
Survivors: husband Daniel of 65 years, whom she married on June 18, 19449 in Newton, daughter, Juanita Holguin and husband, Ernesto Sr., Newton; son Daniel Jr. and wife Pamela of Wichita; son Rick Gonzalez and his wife Angelea of Newton; daughter, Patricia Stallbaumer and husband Dave of Newton and Chavela's twp sisters. Phyllis Chavez of Newton and Isaddora London of Huntington, Arkansas.
Her family was important to her. She was proud of her many grandchildren. She most enjoyed it when all her family would be together and making them tortillas. She worked as a cook at the Chuck Hoouse and the Old Mill Restaurants until she retired.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be September 9 at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial aat 1 0 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
