John William Sills passed away September 26, 2014. He was born to Jesse and Alice Sills on August 26, 1928 in Newton. He lived all of his life in Newton, graduated from Newton High School in 1947. April 26, 1953 he married Vera Schroeder, to this union were born 3 children.
He worked for Santa Fe Rail Mill for 42 years and retired from Kansas National Guard after serving 21 years, 2 1/2 of which were served in the Vietnam War.

Shelia (Neal) Williams; daughter-in-law, Nyla Sills; daughhter, Janet (Mark) Scheffler; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Sills and parents, Jesse and Alice Sills; sister, Alice Miller.
