Obituary

Wilbert C. Dirks, 86, farmer and stockman, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born Oct. 4, 1928 in Halstead, to Carl J. and Mildred Goldie (Smith) Dirks. He was a lifelong area resident and was a member of Grace Church of God In Christ Mennonite Church, Halstead.

On Feb. 5, 1950, he married Claribel Wiggers in Halstead. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2011.

Survivors include sons: Raymond (Charlene) Dirks, Leoti, Franklin (Burnette) Dirks, Halstead; daughters: Margaret (John) Schmidt, Sedgwick, Verna (Philip) Schroeder, Transylvania, Louisiana; sister, Pauline (Dean) Becker, Halstead; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Wilferd Dirks; great-granddaughter, Mikayla Dirks; and sisters: Bertha Wiggers, Angy Dirks and Orlene Koehn.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Grace Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church, Halstead, with Ministers Raleigh Koehn, Marlin Unruh, and Dean Becker officiating. Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery, Halstead.

Memorials may be given to Moundridge Manor, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home of Halstead.
