Evelyn R. Banman, 92, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Newton Medical Center, Newton.
She
was born on Aug. 22, 1922, to Jacob and Susie (Janzen) Schroeder in
Goessel. Evelyn was united in marriage to Richard Banman on May 1, 1947,
in Goessel. Evelyn was an avid gardener, and was very involved
in the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, especially the Happy Homeworkers
Sewing Circle. Evelyn also enjoyed and cooked at several places,
including Barnstormers Restaurant, Bethesda Nursing Home and Hesston
Schools.
Left to cherish Evelyn's memory are her sons, Warren
(Ilene) Banman of Denver, Colorado, Lester (Susan) Banman of Haven, and
Lawrence (Teresa) Banman of Kremmling, Colorado; daughters, Maureen
(Mick) Petrocci of Hesston, and Jan (Marty) Howe of Hoffman Estates,
Illinois; and 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Susie; stepmother,
Justina (Regier) Schroeder; husband, Richard; daughter, Meredith; and 10
brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday,
Oct. 24, 2014, at Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston. Funeral service
will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Dyck Arboretum of the
Plains in Hesston, with Pastor Linda Ewert and Pastor Steve Schmidt
officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. in Alexanderwohl Cemetery,
Goessel. Memorials are suggested to the Mennonite Central
Committee or Schowalter Villa Good Samaritan Fund and may be sent in
