Charlene Mildred Bath Gibson, 65, went home to Jesus on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at the Newton Medical Center.
She
was born on Aug. 12, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of
Rev. Charles and Helen Tanner Bath. Charlene was raised in the Kansas
City area and graduated from high school in 1970 in Leavenworth. While
living in Leavenworth, she worked at the library. Charlene married Joseph D. Gibson on June 28, 1980, in Leavenworth. Shortly after they moved to Newton.
She worked for several years at The Coffee Pot in Newton and volunteered at the library.
Survivors
include her husband, Joseph of Newton; brother, Charles Bath; nieces,
Julie Dotson and Jessica (Andy) McKinney; nephew, Jeff Dotson;
brother-in-law, Jim Dotson, all of Ashland, Kentucky; along with aunts,
uncles, caregivers and friends. Charlene was preceded in death by
her grandparents, the Tanners and Baths; parents; brother, Carl David
Bath; sister, Cheryl Dotson; and niece, Jeni Dotson.
Funeral
services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at the Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home. Private interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery,
Newton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with
the St. Matthews Payee Program and contributions may be sent to Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114. Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
