Obituary

Dean E. Hershberger, 55, died Friday, November 7, 2014, during his honeymoon trip to Arizona with his new bride.

He was born April 19, 1959, in Newton, to Vilas and Helen (Janzen) Hershberger. He was first married to (unknown).  On Nov. 1, 2014, he married Lisa Clark at Central Community Church in Wichita, and she survives of the home.

Dean attended Central Community Church in Wichita and was looking forward to singing in the church choir for their Christmas special. Dean also attended Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church and Kingdom Life Ministries in Hesston. He was a truck driver for Wal-Mart.  Dean was devoted to the Lord and enjoyed sharing Jesus' message with fellow truck drivers and others. He enjoyed fishing, golf and being outside. He especially enjoyed spending time on his motorcycle. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending games. Dean's greatest joy was his family and new wife. He greatly enjoyed encouraging his children and family. He was known for his even temperament and was a joy to be around.

Dean is survived by his wife, Lisa Hershberger of Wichita; sons, Austin Hershberger of Lawrence, and Travis Hershberger of Hutchinson; daughters, Amanda Hershberger of Kansas City, Jessica Hershberger of Wichita, and Jayme Clark of Wichita; brothers, Dennis Hershberger of Yoder, and Dwight Hershberger of Franklin, Tennessee; and sisters, Jane Litwiller of Newton, and Joan Wiggers of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church, with Pastor Brad Burkholder presiding.  Burial will be in the Eastlawn Cemetery, Zimmerdale.  Memorials are suggested to Christian Truckers Association, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
