Myron D. Laflin, 87, died Saturday, November 8, 2014, at his Newton residence.
He was born July 27, 1927, in Hutchinson, to Ralph E. and Lenora M. (Girard) Laflin. On March 17, 1950, he married Irene Willard in Little Rock, Arkansas, and she survives of the home. Myron is a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Newton. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. He retired as a lab inspector for Underwriters Laboratories. He was a member of the South Central Kansas Mustang Club, and he enjoyed attending car shows and showing his 1972 Mustang. Family was very important to Myron, and he looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends.
Myron is survived by his wife, Irene of the home; daughters, Sharon and her husband, Bill Hanley of Newton, Ruby Summus of San Diego, California, and Diane Burroughs. He is also survived by one brother, James Laflin of Santa Maria, California, and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lois Cowling; and one brother, Phil Laflin.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday evening, November 14, 2014, at Petersen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014, at First Church of the Nazarene in Newton, with Pastor Charles West presiding. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton. Memorials are suggested to First Church of the Nazarene or South Central Kansas Mustang Club in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
