Stiller, Hazel

Hazel H. Stiller, 91, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

She was born July 17, 1923, in Newton to Guy P. and Edna M. (Krueger) Scrivner. She was a 1941 graduate of Whitewater High School.  She was a member of the Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton. She was a retired surgical tech and also worked in the canteen for Halstead Hospital. Hazel enjoyed her time at Halstead Hospital, where she made many friends. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary and enjoyed relaxing knitting, especially making many dishrags her friends and family that she freely shared through the years.

Hazel is survived by one son, Bernard and his wife, Sandy Manring of Phoenix, Arizona; step-daughter, Janet and her husband, Richard Vogel of Clearwater; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Omri Manring and Homer Stiller; one brother; daughter, Charlene Kay Manring; and sisters, Margaret Mary and Betty Jean Scrivner. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Manring.

Funeral service will be 9:00 a.m. Thursday, November 20, at Petersen Funeral Home of Newton, Kansas, with the Rev. Amy Lippoldt presiding. Open public visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Heights United Methodist Church or Asbury Park, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
