Obituary

Ian P. Sullivan, 13, died Thursday, November 13, 2014, at his Newton residence.

He was born Feb. 21, 2001, in Wichita to Michael and Traci (Wendt) Sullivan. Ian was an eighth grade student at Chisholm Middle School in Newton, where he enjoyed social studies and made important connections with his friends. Ian enjoyed current events and politics and enjoyed engaging his family and friends in lengthy discussions. He was a loving big brother to Connor and enjoyed spending time with his loving family and many friends.  Ian enjoyed traveling at vacation time and stopping along trips to see the sights. Two of his favorite places to travel with his family were Washington, D.C., and to see the ocean.

Ian is survived by his mother, Traci Sullivan of Newton; father, Michael Sullivan of Wichita; brother, Connor Sullivan of Newton; maternal grandmother, Pat Wendt of McPherson; paternal grandmother, Carol Soutar of Glen Burnie, Maryland; and paternal grandfather, Robert and his wife, Kathy Sullivan of Pasadena, Maryland. Ian is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Terry Wendt, and great-aunt, Vickie Burton.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in Newton, with Pastor Buddy Aldridge presiding. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.  Memorials are suggested to Ian Sullivan family fund, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
