Obituary

Salvador "Sal" Armendariz, 84, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at The Homestead Assisted Living in Halstead, Kansas.

He was born July 23, 1930, at Halstead, to Gabino and Esther (Triana) Armendariz.  He was a lifelong Halstead resident and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead. He was a graduate of Halstead High School, attended K.U. and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of Ruth-Wilson American Legion Post 231, Halstead.  Sal was a retired Cessna Aircraft employee.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother: A.J. "Moody" Armendariz, and sisters: Carmen and Esther Armendariz, and Connie Hernandez.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  The Rosary will be said at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead.  Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Father Edmond Kline officiating.  Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery, Halstead.  Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Caring Hearts Fund in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
