Mavis Bestvater, 88, died on Wednesday (Aug. 8, 2012) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born on Dec. 6, 1923, in Tarkeo, Mo., the daughter of Rosco and Lydia Anna Russell Chaney. She worked as a housekeeper and nurse’s aide at Kansas Christian Home, Presbyterian Manor and Peabody Memorial Home. She also worked at Beech Aircraft. She moved to Salem Home, Hillsboro, in May of 2012.
She is survived by John Bestvater of Newton; one son, Ralph Bestvater of Goessel; one brother, Keith (Annabell) Schuetz of Stockdale, Texas; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Phillip Chaney.
The family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 12, 2012) at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Goessel. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday (Aug. 13, 2012) at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery, Goessel, with Pastor Steve Schmidt officiating.
