Grant, Silas

   Silas Grant died at the home of his son, Bert, at Richmond, Missouri on Janury 4, 1915, after an illness of two weeksk of mental derangement and hardning of the arteries.  He was born in Indiana on March 30, 1846 being 86 years old at the time of his death.  He was the son of Hiram and Hannah Mariah Towne Grant.

   He came to  Iowa with his parents when quite young and resided there a number of years.  On May 16, 1866 he married Eliza A. Smith.  To thi union were born 4 children, Bert of Richmond, Missouri; Wiley of Greensburg, Kansas; Charles of Denver, Colorado and Mrs. George Erb of Harrison, Arkansas, all of whom were with him at the time of his death, except one son, Charles, who was unable to be there.  His wife preceded him to the better world on January

 8, 1900.  Cause of her death was hardeniing og the arteries.

   He was converted in early manhood and united with the Church of Christ, having remained steadfast in the faith until the end.  He held membership with the church atGreensburg, Kansas at the time of his death.  Funeral services were held in Richmoond, Missouri;
