Myron Paul Swim passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Paul was born on March 4, 1956, in Newton, Kansas. He moved with his family to Colorado Springs in 1966. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1974. He attended Adams State and graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a bachelor of science in psychology in 1985. He resided in Las Vegas and Los Angeles before moving back to Colorado Springs. He worked for School District 11 for 20 years in the special education transition department. After retiring, he returned to part-time work as an intake specialist at the Independence Center.
Paul had a beautiful singing voice and was a member of Out Loud Men's Chorus of Colorado Springs. He also participated in local community theater. He loved to travel with friends and family, including Disney World and New York City. He enjoyed researching genealogy and traced his family back several generations. Paul was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a kind, generous, fun-loving person with a quick wit and infectious laugh. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Paul leaves behind his father, Earl Swim, of Colorado Springs; sisters, Barbara Swim of Colorado Springs and Brenda Lorimor (Tom) of Morrison, Colorado; nieces, Stacy Swim of Colorado Springs, Shannon Sage (Kris) of Morrison, and Rachelle Freelove (Jeremy) of Littleton, Colorado; nephew, Trent Lorimor (Reggie Gordon) of Lakewood, Colorado; and many family and friends from coast to coast. Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Swim; grandparents, Eugene and Susie Swim and Chet and Mabel Werner; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the Fine Arts Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, Threshold Choirs, or a charity of your choice.
