Benewiat, Michael, 74, died Monday, May 25, 2009, in Newton. He was born November 21, 1934 at Hoczek, Poland. He was owner/operator of Mike's Barber Shop. On September 11, 1956 he married Mary Alice Morris at Wichita, KS, she died December 12, 2006. Survivors include sons; Daniel (Tammy) Benewiat, John (Mona) Benewiat, Steve Benewiat and MarkBenewiat all of Halstead, KS; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 pm Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Kaufman Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30-8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Friday May 29, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead, KS with Father Steven Baxter officiating. Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery, Halstead, KS. Memorials may be given to the V.F. W. Scholarship fund in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, KS.
