Barbara Rose Stout

Barbara Rose Stout, 86, died Saturday, December 1, 2012. She was born January 28, 1926, at Halstead, the daughter of Edward Frederick and Marie Frederica Oltmans Stein.

She was a 1944 graduate of Halstead High School, a graduate of Hutchinson Community College and attended University of Kansas. Barbara was a 65-year member of First United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women. She was a Sunday school teacher and a delegate to the National Convention for Methodist Churches for numerous years. She was a member of Hutchinson and Kansas Recreation Commissions, Reno County Election Board, PEO Member and co-owner of Rose Motor Supply, Inc., and a homemaker.

On April 15, 1948, she married Edward "Bill" Rose in Hutchinson. He died April 19, 1996. Then on November 14, 2001, she married Dr. James Stout in Hutchinson. He survives.

Other survivors include: children and spouses, Dr. Janet S. Rose, Chicago, Illinois, Trish Jean Rose and Jim Davis, Scott Edward and Lori Rose, Keith William and Stacey Rose, all of Hutchinson; step-children, Becky and Steve Warner, Hutchinson, Sally Tremain, St. Joseph, Missouri, Kelly and Dick Roberts, Wichita; a brother, Wesley and Mary Stein, Wichita; 10 grandchildren, Alexandra Rose-Flaspohler, Nicholas Patrick and Ashley Myers, Samuel Phillip Myers, Evan Maxwell Rose, Elle Grace Rose, Kane Maxwell Rose, Zachary Charles Rose, Ethan William Rose, Braden Keith Rose, Sophia Noelle Rose; 10 step-grandchildren; one great-grandson, Noah Isaac Myers; and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Margaret and Virginia Stein.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, 101 East 1st Avenue, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Mark Conard officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be private. Memorial gifts may be made to the church.
