Obituary

Topeka - Leslie Wayne Martens, 69, passed away April 29, 2015 in Topeka.

He was born March 21, 1946, in Newton, KS, the son of Menno and Lena Dyck Martens. Les attended Buhler High School graduating in 1964 and attended Bethel College. Les had a short term of voluntary service work at Rose Medical Center in Denver and worked briefly as a draftsman for the State of Kansas in Topeka. After struggling with mental illness most of his adult life, his family is blessed to know that Les is now at peace and in rest with God.

He is survived by 3 brothers, Larry of Topeka, Louis (Michele) of Buhler, and Lyle (Maria) of Venice, California, and a loving family of an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Lynn Allen.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2015 at Buhler Mortuary. Private family services will be held at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Mennonite Central Committee or Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church Gift Fund in care of Buhler Mortuary, 120 North Main, Buhler, Kansas 67522
