Diane L. Smet (1940 - 2015)
Obituary
Okeechobee, Florida – Diane L. Smet,
75, died April 16, 2015. She was born April 16, 1940 in Superior,
Wisconsin to Gustav and Emma DeRiemaker. A resident of Okeechobee for
26 years, she was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church. She was
a Licensed Practical Nurse and enjoyed quilting, golf and traveling.
Mrs. Smet is survived by her husband,
Ron Smet of Okeechobee; three sons, Steven R. Smet (Connie), Craig A.
Smet (Maggie) all of Newton, Kansas and Scott E. Smet (Jeannette) of
Okeechobee; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and sister,
Joane Gidley of Superior, Wisconsin.
A visitation was held Sunday, April 19,
2015 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Rosary was at 6:30
p.m. Mass was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. Theresa's
Catholic Church with Father Lorenzo officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, PO Box 1548,
Okeechobee, Florida 34973 or the Okeechobee High School Brahman Band,
2800 US-441, Okeechobee, FL 34972.
Family will hold private burial
Saturday May 2 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Newton with opportunity to
greet family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the home of Craig Smet, 1215
Grandview Court, Newton.
