Clifford A. Hanke, 37, died April 19,
2015 as a result of a battle with cancer.
He was born February 23, 1978 in Iowa
City, Iowa. Cliff was the son of Mary (Killfoil) Hanke and Harley
Hanke. He attended Fort Madison High School in Iowa and graduated in
1997. He enjoyed choir and spending time with friends and family.
Cliff was a wonderful friend who was
quick with a joke, jab, or just a smile. No matter how tough the day
was going, to see Cliff and his family would always bring relief and
good times. Cliff was selfless and did not think of himself first. He
excelled at bringing happiness with him wherever he went. He will be
greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his fiancée: Mary
Hensley; his sister: Joyanna (Hanke) LaJeunesse; brother in-law:
Jayson Lajeunesse; and sister: Diane Kropp. He also leaves behind his
parents: Mary and Harley Hanke. He was preceded in death by his
grandparents and a brother, Timothy Hanke.
The funeral service will be held on
Friday, April 24, 2015, at 10 a.m., at the Church of God of the
Firstborn located at 720 South Kansas Ave., Newton, KS. Visitation,
for friends and family, will be from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, April 23
at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will occur following the
funeral service at the Church of God of the First Born Cemetery in
rural Newton.
A memorial has been set up for the
Church of God of the First Born, 720 South Kansas Ave., Newton, KS.
