Laura Hiebert
Obituary
Laura Hiebert, 96, formerly of Newton,
died Tuesday (April 14, 2015) at the Sunshine Meadows Retirement
Community in Buhler.
She and her twin brother Lewis were
born June 5, 1918 in Harvey County. The daughter of John and Ida
Breitenstein, one of nine children, Laura attended schools in Harvey
County, moving into town after graduation.
On July 12, 1952, Laura married Albert
Hiebert at the First Presbyterian Church in Hutchinson.
In 1940, Laura did house work for
various families in the area. Later she went on to work for Hetzel
Cleaners for 20 years. From there, Laura went on to work for Hehr
Inc., for 23 years until retiring in 1983. The Corner Cleaners asked
Laura to help after her retirement, and she stayed on there for about
six years. She finally decided to actually retire, and enjoyed
working at home and spending time with her husband Albert. He died on
Sept.16, 2007.
Laura loved to cook and make pies as
well canning green beans and tomatoes. She also enjoyed working in
her gardens and her flowers as well as taking a daily walk.
Laura is survived by several nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, twin brother Lewis Breitenstein, two other
brothers; Ora Breitenstein and William Breitenstein, and five
sisters; Elsie Singbrisch, Irene McCoush, Ruby Maupin, Ella Plummer
and Mable Morris.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m,
Tuesday (April 21, 2015) at the First Presbyterian Church in Newton.
Interment will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory near Newton.

Monday 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
