Larry Eugene Krueger
Larry Eugene Krueger, 61, Overland
Park, Kansas, passed away from pancreatic cancer on Wednesday,
January 29, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.
Larry was born April 20, 1952, in
Newton, Kansas, the son of Harry Eugene Krueger and Verna Lorraine
Krueger. He graduated from Halstead High School in 1970, United
Electronics Institute (UEI) in 1973, and was a member of the Army
Reserve Corps from 1971-1977. He married Cynthia Ann Sessions on
December 18, 1971. She survives of the home. He is also survived
by his children, Jason (Royal) Krueger of Lenexa, KS, Kristen (Nick)
Lynch of Lee’s Summit, MO, three grandchildren, Delaney, Garrett,
and Lucy Krueger of Lenexa, KS., his father Harry Krueger of Junction
City, KS, and his sister Shari (Calvin) Pottberg of Junction City,
KS. He was preceded in death by his mother, Verna Krueger.
After graduation from UEI, he and his
wife relocated to Bloomington, Indiana for 6 months and then returned
to the Kansas City area and worked at the Butler Manufacturing –
Research Center for thirty-nine plus years and remained there until
his illness prevented him from working any longer. Larry was a
member of the Roeland Park United Methodist Church, Roeland Park, KS,
where he served on many church committees including chair of
Evangelism and Board of Trustees in his early years at the church.
He was one of the original members of the Praise Team (Contemporary
Music Group) which began playing on September 11, 1994. Larry played
guitar for the Praise Team for nineteen and one-half years. Since
the 1990’s, he had joined other church members in playing softball
on the “Holy Hitters” co-ed softball team. Larry enjoyed fishing
and camping throughout his life and in later years enjoyed the cruise
vacations taken with his wife, Cyndi, and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at
Roeland Park United Methodist Church, 5110 Cedar, Roeland Park,
Kansas. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service at 10
