Obituary
Dorothy Amy Seibel, 94, died Sunday
(March 15, 2015) at Kidron Bethel of North Newton.
She was born on January 31, 1921, on a
farm near Durham, Ks., in Marion County, the daughter of Abraham and
Minnie Frantz Pankratz. Dorothy was raised in the Durham area,
attending Durham schools, Zoar Academy in Inman and Tabor Academy in
Hillsboro.
Dorothy had been a nurses aide at the
Hillsboro Hospital prior to her marriage to Elmer Lee Seibel on June
12, 1953, in Hillsboro. Shortly after being married they moved to
Wichita.
Later Dorothy would begin working as a
C.N.A. at the Presbyterian Manor in Wichita. She loved to bake and
can foods along with working in her garden. She was a longtime member
of the First Mennonite Brethren Church in Wichita. Dorothy and Elmer
moved to Kidron Bethel in 2004; he died on March 26, 2008.
Survivors include her son Gerald Seibel
and his wife Loreta of Kechi, Ks.; daughter Leora Schneider and her
husband Martin of Milford, Neb.; sisters Althea Zimmerman of
Weaubleau, Mo., and Luella Burkhart of North Newton; five
grandchildren Jessica Seibel, Jacob Seibel and his wife Melissa,
Julia Seibel, Amy Hoagland and her husband Adam, Vance Schneider and
his wife Alana; and three great-grandchildren, Addison, Audrey Anna,
and Aric Hoagland.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her
parents; husband; brother Paul Pankratz; sisters Ellen Unruh, Marine
Buller, and Ruth Pankratz.
Graveside services and interment will
be held at 9:30 A.M., Friday (March 20, 2015) at the Resthaven
Cemetery in Wichita.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00
A.M., Friday, at the First Mennonite Brethren Church, 8000 W. 21st,
in Wichita.
Friends may call at the funeral home
Thursday 1pm til 8pm, where the family will receive friends between 6
and 8.
A memorial has been established with
the Mennonite Central Committee, contributions may be sent to
