EMPORIA — Martha Penner, 88, of
Emporia, passed away on Friday (March 30, 2012) in Emporia.
She was born on October 17, 1923, in
Marion County to C.C. and Agnes (Goertz) Koehn.
She married Victor W. Penner on Oct.
23, 1944, in Newton. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1967.
She was a member of First Mennonite
Church in Newton, Mud Hands Ceramic Club and the Knitting Guild.
She is survived by daughters, Susie
Davis (Ron) of Emporia, Dorothy Shipman (Gale) of Marion and Dianna
Brenn (Steven) of Parsons; brothers, Frank Koehn of Newton and Irwin
Koehn of Blaine, Wash.; sister, Nellie Esau of Goessel; 11
grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband; sons, Victor W. Penner and Richard R. Penner;
brothers, Jacob Koehn, Cornie Koehn, John Koehn, George Koehn and
Edward Koehn; and sister, Margaret Revell.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at
First Mennonite Church, 429 E. First St. in Newton, with Pastor Anita
Kehr officiating.
The family will great friends from noon
until service time at the church in Newton. Emporia friends may view
from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Charter Funerals in Emporia.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery
in Newton.
