Sallie Mae Dotson
1936 - 2015 | Obituary
Sallie Mae Dotson was born January 21,
1936, to the late Rev. John W. and Alice Randolph in Winona,
Mississippi.
She married Any [Andy] Lee Dotson in
1953. She raised six children, Angela, Alice, Edith, April, Hope and
Cleon in Chicago, IL. Sallie accepted Christ at a young age in her
father's church, Friendship Missionary Baptist Church located in
Ackerman, Mississippi. She worshiped most of her adult life at
Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. She served
on the Usher Board for 30 plus years. Sallie graduated from Englewood
Evening High School. She worked for Cook County Hospital as an OB/GYN
ward clerk 45 plus years.
She helped raise most of her
grandchildren, she helped countless family & friends when they
needed a helping hand, a kind heart and a place to lay their head.
She spent her life helping others.
She is survived by her children: son:
Randolph Dotson; daughters: Angela Faye Miles, Alice Michelle Dotson,
Edith Vanessa Dotson, April Shine and spouse, Kenneth Shine and Hope
Dotson; sister Clytie Holloway; 14 grandchildren and 21
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
husband: Andy Lee Dotson; four sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2
p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be Monday, March 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Petersen
Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in
Newton.
