Delmer H. Davidson, 86, went to be with
the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Kansas Christian Home.
Delmer was born July 4, 1928, in rural
Wann, Oklahoma, to Sylvester "Bud" and Marguerite
(Robinson) Davidson. He spent his early childhood around Dewey and
Bartlesville, Oklahoma, area. He attended school in Eureka, Kansas.
In 1948, he joined the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge in
1952. He married Mildred Poole in 1969; following her death he later
married Mary Alice (Barbour) Friesen on June 23, 1973, at Newton,
Kansas.
Delmer worked in the oil fields of
Oklahoma and Texas, settling in Blackwell in 1968 where he worked for
Blackwell Smelter and the City of Blackwell until his retirement in
1991. Delmar and Mary Alice moved to Newton in 1999 to be closer to
family. Delmer enjoyed NFL football, NASCAR and traveling the United
States. He was a member of First Christian Church and the American
Legion.
Delmer is survived by his wife Mary
Alice Davidson of Newton; stepson Richard Friesen of Newton, KS; one
sister Doris Winget of Alvin, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Graveside committal service with
military honors will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at
Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas. A memorial service will follow at
2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church in Newton, with Pastor Gary Bell
presiding. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening, March 24,
2015, at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from
7 to 8 p.m.
