Harold L. Farris
Obituary
WALTON: Harold L. Farris, 88, of
Walton, died Wednesday (March 25, 2015) at the Newton Medical Center.
He was born on January 31, 1927 in
Sedan, Kansas, the son of Leo and Ethel Vanderhoof Farris, Sr. Harold
was raised in the Sedan area and graduated from Moline High School.
Harold and Bonnie were married on May
24, 1947 in Sedan. They lived for a while in El Dorado before moving
to Canada, Kansas in Marion County where they lived for 35 years.
Harold and Bonnie moved to Walton a year ago.
For several years Harold had worked in
Wichita at the aircraft plants, Boeing, Beech, and Cessna. He had
also been a farmer and rancher for many years. He had been a member
of the Sedan Saddle Club. Harold was an avid golfer, he hit a "hole
in one" at the golf course in Hillsboro. He was still out
golfing when he was 84 years old.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie of
the home in Walton; daughters Connie Hosford and her husband John of
Newton, and Mary Caviale and her husband Paul of Modesto, Calif.;
four grandchildren Kandy Olsen and her fiancé Randy Elder of Newton,
John Hosford, Jr. and his fiance' Carrie Johnson of Wichita, John
Paul Caviale of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Gina Caviale of Hunt, Tx.;
five great grandchildren Kayla Hiebert and her husband Lance of
Newton, Jessica Williams and her husband Nathan of Walton; Bailey,
Wyatt and Gunner Hosford of Newton; and two great-great grandchildren
Emma Hiebert of Newton and Maci Williams of Walton. As well as his
long time companion, his Australian Shepherd, Reba.
Harold is preceded in death by his
parents; and two brothers Leo Farris, Jr., and Billy Dwayne Farris.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00
P.M., Saturday (March 28, 2015) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral
Home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home
Friday 1 to 8 pm, where the family will receive friends between 6 and
8 p.m., and also on Saturday 9 a.m. until service time.
A memorial has been established with
the Caring Hands Humane Society. Contributions may be sent to
