Lee Grimwood

Lee Grimwood, 85, died August 16, 2010
at the Sedgwick Health Care Center in Sedgwick, Kansas.
He was born on May 28, 1925 to Thomas
Jerry and Henrilou (Young) Grimwood in Sedgwick, Kansas.
On March 21, 1953 he married Vera M.
Stonebraker. She died on November 23, 2006.
Lee was a lifetime member of the
Sedgwick Christian Church.
He enlisted into the United States Army
in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He received a bronze
star and a purple heart with two oak cluster leaves, while serving
his country.
Lee was a member of over 60 years of
the American Legion and the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. of Sedgwick. He was
also a past M.A. for the Sedgwick Masonic Lodge.
Upon earning a business degree, Lee
held the office of Vice President at the Sedgwick State Bank for over
37 years, served three terms as a councilman on the Sedgwick City
Council.
Lee was also a past president of the
Booster Club, and was influential on the Housing Authority Committee.
Also, in his lifetime he was a trained EMT and for more than ten
years, volunteered his time with the Sedgwick Fire and Ambulance
Department.
Survivors include a daughter Alice
Renner and her husband Steve, Bellevue, NE, two sons, Ted Grimwood of
Sedgwick and Dr. John Grimwood and wife Lani of Guam.; granddaughter,
Sarah Renner and grandson, Tim Renner; sister-in-law, Lucile
Grimwood.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, his wife Vera, brother, Gordon Grimwood and brother and
sister-in-law, Don and Dorothy Grimwood.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 19,
2010 from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 6:00
P.M.- 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held on
Friday, August 20th, 2010, 2:00 P.M. at the Sedgwick Christian Church
in Segwick. The Reverend Kim Beckwith and Chaplain Bill Eichelberger,
will be presiding.
Burial will be held at the Hillside
Cemetery in Sedgwick.
Memorials can be made to the Sedgwick
Christian Church, Sedgwick Senior Center or the American Legion
Scholarship Fund, in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
