Alice Miller
1944 - 2014 | Obituary
Alice Miller, 69, passed away Friday,
Feb. 7, 2014, at her home in Newton.
Alice was born on March 21, 1944, to
Burley and Marguerite (Romigh) Starks in Wichita. Her early years
were spent in Chase County, mainly Cottonwood Falls. In 1957, the
family moved to Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1962
and also attended Bethel College and Wichita State University.
She married Harold L. Miller on April
11, 1965, in Newton. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Alice worked for Hesston Corporation
before starting her family. She later joined the law firm of Somers,
Robb and Robb, serving as a legal assistant for more than 35 years.
She was an active member and volunteered as the church secretary of
Eastside United Methodist Church for many years.
Alice was very active in our community,
serving in many capacities for various organizations. Her home was
the hub for celebrations of family and friends. Family was very
important in her life. Alice was a very warm, kind and accepting
person; she served as a mentor for many young people and was always
willing to help others.
Even when faced with the tragic loss of
family and friends and her own terminal illnesses, she never lost her
passion for reaching out. Through all these trials, her faith grew
ever stronger. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie
Stenzel and spouse, Eugene; her precious grandchildren, Abby, Kyle
and Luke Stenzel; sister, Halicia Motter and husband, Leland;
brother-in-law, James Miller and spouse, Mildred; adored nieces and
nephews, Crystal, Christopher, Cory and Cameron Motter, Vickie and
Cindy Miller, and Kevin and Jim Miller; and a step-brother, John
Lenke.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Harold L. Miller Jr.; son, Brian Miller; parents, Burley and
Marguerite Starks; and step-mother, Anna Mae Starks.
