Leslie Jessee

Leslie Fay Grant Jessee, 63, of Olin, passed away on July 27 at her residence.

She was born on Feb. 2, 1947, in Newton, the daughter of the late John Howard Grant and Lucille Bartlett Grant.

On Feb. 2, 1967, she married Joseph Martin Jessee in Virginia. He survives.

She worked at Graves Drug Store throughout school. Leslie went to Newton High School, graduating with the class of 1965.

She was employed with U.S. Air for 10 years and was a pet rescuer who gave a home to four rescued pets.

Leslie loved cooking for her children and grandchildren, relatives and friends. Her stove was always warm.

She excelled in arts and crafts and was a blue-ribbon winner for her flower arrangements and wreaths.

She also was a great storyteller, a wonderful friend, and loved to visit with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Leslie is survived by two children, Dana Jessee Hardman of Woodstock, Va., and Dawn Jessee Sparacino of Strasburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Donald Hardman Jr., Jessee Parsons, Tyler Parsons, Lucy Hardman, Angelina Sparacino and Jay Merrick III; a sister, Dennie Gronau (Jim) of Newton; two brothers, Jon Grant (Carol) of Texas and Hugh Grant (Shari) of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were on July 31 at Moss Chapel United Methodist Church, officiated by the Revs. Glenn Dancy III and Don Margarita.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville N.C. 28625; and Moss Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Arcille Jessee, 2735 Jennings Road, Olin, N.C. 28667.
