Abijah S Chears

   Abijah S. Chears, aged 85, died.  He was born in Easton, Maryland in 1829, moved to Ohio with his parents in 1835 and married Catherine Ann Williamson in 1852. They had four children, Clara, William; Ida  May and Ray.  In 1861 he enlisted in Co. K, 1st Ohio Volunteers for 3 years.  He came back to Kansas in 1870, but moved back to Ohhio in the grasshoppeer year and then to Indianapois, Indiana.  He moved back to Anderson County, Kansas and backk to Havey Co. in 18814.  Mrs. Chears died in 1892.  He belonged to Odd Fellow Lodge.

   Survivors: daughter Mrs. Bartlett of Patterson; Ray of Larned, 6 grandchildren.

   Funeral was at Patterson Baptist Church  with burial in Star Cemetery.
