Earl D. Flickner
1929 - 2015 | Obituary
Earl D. Flickner 85, died Tuesday,
June, 23, 2015 at Newton Medical Center. He was born September 4,
1929 in Spivey, Kansas to Joe and Selma (Albright) Flickner. On
August 5, 1961 he married Marilyn Schrag and Eden, Kansas and she
preceded him in death on November 25, 2006. Earl was a longtime
member of the First Mennonite Church in Newton where he also worked
as custodian. He also worked at Detroit Motor Home in Newton for
nearly 20 years. He enjoyed camping and being in the outdoors. He and
his son were long term members of the Springlake campground in rural
Halstead, Kansas where they enjoyed the company of their friends.
Earl is survived by his son Gordon of
the home; brothers Larry Flickner of Kingman, Kansas, Carl Flickner
of Pennsylvania, Jesse Flickner of Chicago and Victor Flickner of
Olathe, Kansas of Newton, Kansas; sisters Mildred Boswell of Kingman,
Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his wife,
parent and two sisters: Irma Cresinger and Phyllis Dennis
Graveside Committal service will be
9:00 a.m., Friday at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastors Joel and Kay
Schroeder presiding. Visitation will be 5 to 9 Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:00. A
memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church
in Newton, Kansas
