Valerie Joan Hoffman, 54, died on June
18, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Valerie was born on May 24, 1961 in
Lyons, Kansas to Richard and Lois (Mason) Killingsworth. She was a
graduate of Circle High School in Towanda.
Valerie married Lester Hoffman on
November 21, 1981. They were married 33 years until her death.
Valerie was a retired truck driver and
handy person. She was a painter, chain saw artist, family hostess and
entertainer. She loved to travel with Lester and her daughter Carey.
She traveled extensively in the Caribbean, the United States, and a
safari adventure in Africa.
She is survived by her husband: Lester
Hoffman; daughter: Carey Hedrick and husband Nathan of Newton; step
daughters: Gina Brown and Angela Daines; father and mother: Richard
and Lois Killingsworth; brother: Terry Killingsworth; sisters:
Jeanine Kreuzburg and Michelle Hulse; seven grandchildren, five great
grandchildren and one niece and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by a stepson:
Lester David Hoffman.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00
a.m., Friday, June 26, 2015 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 25th, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.,
with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will follow the
service at Walton Cemetery in Walton, Kansas.
A memorial has been set up for the
American Diabetes Association in her honor.
Valerie had a heart of gold and gave of
herself to anyone. In 1989 and 1992 Valerie was treated for cancer.
The treatments damaged her heart valves.
This May, she went to the Mayo Clinic
to repair her heart valve damage. The surgery was successful but
there were complications which caused her death.
Valerie's life touched many people and
she will be remembered for her love and many talents. The family is
saddened with her passing but they will have many enduring memories
