Obituary

   Joseph Lowman died when a train at his back, which he was unable to note its approach because of defective hearing.  Joseph Lowman was ground to death by the Santa Fe's fast California train near Putnam.  The mangledd body was picked up by the train crew and taken to Sedgwick.  Mr. Lowman was visiting his cousin's home aand had gone with Elsie, the 11 year old daughter of H. M. Lowman, to herd cattle near the railway track a quarter mile south of the station at Putnam.  The little girl frantically waved her hands in an effort to attract his attention. The full traiin of eight carls passed over the body.

   He was born Indiana in 1842.  In 1862 he married Mandy Ann Kingry who died 34 years ago.  He Six of eight children are still living; Sheltonn, Edwin, Annie Cross, Lettie Taylor, Abe Lowman and Charlotte Lowwman.  He had 22 grandchildren. 

   He had made his home with hhisdaughteer, Mrs. S.C. Cross.  He was an old respected citizen with many friends
