Alvin H. Goertz (1919 - 2015)
Obituary
Alvin H. Goertz, 96, passed away on
June 3, 2015 at Bethesda Home, Goessel. He was born May 19, 1919 on a
farm near Walton, Kansas the son of Henry and Martha Goertz.
He owned Al's Garage in Lehigh for many
years, served in the CPS, Gideon's, an avid pool player, bowler,
gunsmith, and bike rider.
In June 15, 1944 he married Ethlyn
Wiebe in Hillsboro. She passed away in April 29, 1978. On April 2,
1983 Alvin married Marie Ediger and they spent 16 years together
before her passing in 1999.
He was also preceded in death by a
daughter-in-law, Claire Kurtz, 2 brothers, Art, Ernest, and 2
sisters, Rachel Ratzlaff, Bertha Schroeder.
He is survived by his children, David
Goertz of Chandler, AZ, Edith (Vern) Schultz of Osseo, MN, Grace
(Gary) Hagen of Minnetonka, MN, Becky (Howard) Allison of Newton, a
brother, Richard Goertz of Missouri, 6 grandchildren and 12 great
grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m.,
Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Newton. The
family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2015 at
Miller – Ott Funeral Home, Goessel.
