Richard Wayne "Peck" Peckenschneider, 86, died May 22, 2105 at a local hosital in Boise, Idaho at the age of 86. His wife Mary Lee was at his bedside. A memorial and graveside service will be held at a later date in Halstead, Kansas.
Richard was born February 2, 1929 in Halstead, Kansas, son of Lloyd E. Peckenschneider M.D. and Helen Fellner Peckenchneider. He was raised and educated in Halstead, graduating from Halstead High School in 1947. Following high school,, he attended KU University in Lawrencne, Kansas and Iowa University in Iowa City. He left college to enlist in the Air Force to serve in Korea. After serving in Korea, he applied and was accepted by the Kansas Highway Patrol. He was stationed in Topeka, Newton, Wichita and Hays.
He retired while stationed in Hays on June 1, 1980 with 25 years of service.
He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Mary Lee a son Kurt of Wichita, Kansas and a daughter, Ann Shelton, her husband Ron and their children Connor and Rachel of Topeka, Kansas.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and sisters, Maary Lou Polson and Janet Imel.
