Obituary: Olin W. Schmidt

Olin W. Schmidt, 87, died on Tuesday
(Aug. 23, 2011) at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
He was born on Sept. 14, 2011, in
Newton to Arthur and Ruth (Schmidt) Schmidt. On May 27, 1961, he
married Alma Isaac at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade. Alma
survives of the home.
Olin was a graduate of Whitewater High
School and was a retired farmer and stockman. He was an active member
of Grace Hill Mennonite Church in rural Whitewater. He was a church
board member, Sunday school teacher, spiritual council member,
chairman of the building committee from 1970 to 2001 and Mennonite
men chairman. Olin also was a Pleasant Township board member.
He greatly enjoyed spending time with
his loving family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Alma of the
home; daughter, Carmen Wade and her husband, Paul, of Wichita; son,
Darryl Schmidt and his wife, Stacy, of Edmond, Okla.; one sister,
Gladys Harms of Newton; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Service times will be announced by
Petersen Funeral Home.
