A town and school are mourning the death of a young student. Andre Thibault of Halstead died Thursday in a playground accident.

Students made posters and left flowers at the sign that Thibault ran into Thursday night. He hit his throat on the sign. Doctors say he crushed his larynx.

Friends and family remember Thibault as an amazing boy. Andre' loved football and K-State. "I'm just really glas to have him for a son. Just lucky to have him for the 12 years we did," said Andre's father Alan Thibault.

He was killed in what's being called a freak accident. He was playing football on school grounds when he hit the sign.

Services for Andre Thibault will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Community Church in Newton.
