MRS. PAUL KREHBIEL
Mrs. Nelly Ellen Kelly Krehbiel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Kelly, was born at Nickerson, Kansas on Dec. 25, 1886. She passed away in the Halstead hospital on Feb. 6, 1955 at 8:30 o’clock in the morning.
At an early age, she came to Halstead to make her home here. She was baptized in the First Mennonite church of Halstead on May 31, 1903, and received into the fellowship of the church. She remained a member of this church until the time of her death.
On Dec. 23, 1908, she was united in marriage to Paul Gerhard Krehbiel of Halstead by Rev. J. H. Langenwalter. To this union, three sons were born.
She is survived by her husband; her three sons, Gerald Paul of Springfield, Ill., Lawrence Christian of Wichita; and Paul Edward of Halstead; two daughters-in-law, Billie Roberta Krehbiel, wife of Lawrence, and Carmen Bernice Krehbiel, wife of Gerald; one brother, Thomas D. Kelly of Los Angeles, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Murray of Galesburg, Ill.; grandchildren Richard Lee and Gerald Paul Krehbiel, Jr., of Kansas City, Mo., and Larry Robert Krehbiel and Roberta Christine Krehbiel of Wichita; nieces and nephews, together with many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Patrick, Robert and Harry.
Funeral services were held in the First Mennonite church of Halstead on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 9, 1955 at 2:30 o’clock with her pastor, Rev. Roland R. Goering in charge. He was assisted by Dr. J. H. Langenwalter of North Newton. Mrs. Otto Quiring, Mrs. Helen Friesen and Mrs. Ernest Mueller sang “Be Still My Soul” and “Take Thou My Hand, O Father.” Mrs. Milton Ewy was the organist.
Mrs. Krehbiel was laid to rest in the family lot in the Halstead cemetery. The directors of the Kaufman funeral home were in charge of funeral arrangements.
