Hesston: Isobel I. Stein, 85, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at her residence in Hesston. She was born Feb. 1, 1930 at Montezuma to Adam J. and Edna Mae (Elbe) Schmidt. She resided in Hesston for four years and had been a longtimeHalstead resident.
She attended Halstead Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at Halstead Hospital. Following her nursing career she became a United Methodist Lay Minister, serving churches in Luray, Cullison, Byers, Kuka and Halstead. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Halstead and was a volunteer at Urban Ministries, Wichita.
On June 4, 1947 she married James A. Stein at Halstad, he preceded her in death.
Survivors include sisters; Verda Wedel, Hesston; Ada Cranston, Lonoke, Arkansas; Emma Becker, Kannapolis, North Carolina; and Grace (Errol) Becker, Newton. She was preceded in death by a brother James W. Schmitt.
Services were held July 11 at Halstead Methodist Church. Burial was at Halstead Cemnetery in Halstead.
