Terry Bruce Penner (1940 - 2015)

Obituary

Terry Bruce Penner, 75, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 9, at his home in Madison, AL. Mr. Penner was born May 24,1940, in Los Angeles, CA to Martin and Gladys (Beam) Penner. Both are deceased. The family later moved to Bentley, Kansas, where Mr. Penner was raised, on a poultry farm along with his younger sister, Diane (Penner) Briscoe, who also preceded him in death.

In 1959, Mr. Penner married Kathleen Carol Schneider, also of Bentley. They later divorced in 1993. They have four children: Julie Buzbee of Topeka, KS; Stacy Rodgers of Newton, KS; Dixie (Thomas) Frazier of Hesston, KS; and Brad Penner of Roswell, GA.

In 1993, Mr. Penner married Kyong Ok Lim who survives Terry to this day.

A graduate of Bentley High School and Wichita State University, Mr. Penner spent his career working for Boeing Company as an electrical engineer and later as an Aerospace manager. His work took him and his family from their home base in the Wichita, KS area, to Colorado Springs, CO, Sunnyvale, CA, and Huntsville, AL, where he retired from Boeing after working also on projects with NASA.

He was an avid golfer and fisherman and he was always proud of his lawn and flower gardens for the house. He has always enjoyed playing bridge and most recently spent many a day at the Madison Senior Center in Madison. Mr. Penner also was a former member of the Halstead, KS. school board. In Huntsville, he started an investment group MTIC for people to work on making good choices in stocks and bonds to improve their retirement funds. He was the group president.

Besides Mr. Penner's children, other survivors include his grandchildren: Kathryn Rodgers, of Macon, GA; Sean Buzbee of Topeka; Carlie Rodgers of Newton; Kimberly Buzbee of Topeka; Andrew Frazier of Hesston; and Michelle Buzbee of Half Moon Bay, CA. Also surviving are his two nephews, Mark Briscoe and Scott Briscoe, both of Alexandria, VA.

Services will be conducted at a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton August 10th at 10:00 a.m. Donations can be made to the American Heart Associationhttps://donatenow.heart.org/index-alt.html in lieu of flowers.
