John Stucky, 84, died Saturday, August
8, 2015 at Asbury Park in Newton. He was born November 9, 1930, in
Moundridge, KS to Peter T. and Ida "J.C." Gehring Stucky.
On October 17, 1958, John married Ruby Ediger in Newton.
John worked at Guerdon Industries in
Newton and then later at Future Foam where he retired as foreman
after 17 years. He was a member of the Burns Community Church in
Burns, KS and has attended First Church of the Nazarene in Newton
along side Ruby since their marriage.
John was a true farmer at heart. He
loved to grow things, especially strawberries and irises. His garden
at one time covered close to two acres. His tractor of choice was
John Deere, and to him, there was no second choice. He loved to hunt
pheasant and quail, and enjoyed watching the KU Jayhawks men's
basketball team. John was a loving husband, father and he especially
adored spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of
the home; two daughters, Monica Spinder and husband, Dan, of El
Dorado, Noreen Anderson and husband, Dave, of Newton, and one son,
Jarrett Stucky and wife, Brenda, of Newton. He had ten grandchildren:
Shelby (Spinder) Greemore and husband, Joseph, Adam Spinder, John
Spinder, Leslie Adams, Maggie Porter, Dalton Porter, Tim Stucky and
wife, Michaela, Alex Stucky, Kasey Stucky, Alaina Stucky; five
great-grandchildren: Corbany, Addyson, Greyson, Ashlynn, Kale. Also
surviving are three brothers: Silas, Joseph and Daniel.
John was preceded in death by his
parents, five brothers, Samuel, Jonathan, David, Paul and Philip, and
one sister, Esther, and one son-in-law, Steve Burton.
Funeral Services will be Friday, August
14 at 10:00 am, First Church of the Nazarene, Newton. Graveside
services will be at Burns Countryside Church Cemetery, Burns, KS.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, August 13 from 5:00 to
9:00 p.m. where family will receive friends between 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established with
the First Church of the Nazarene, Newton. Arrangements are by
Petersen's Funeral Home, Newton.
