Edna S. Hiebert, 95, died Sunday
(August 16, 2015) at Kidron Bethel in North Newton, KS.
She was born on January 12, 1920 on a
farm near Walton, KS, the ninth of ten children born to Jacob and
Susie Goossen Hiebert. Edna spent her youth on the farm and attended
Walton Public School.
On April 7, 1940, Edna married Wilhard
Heinrich Hiebert in Goessel, KS. Wilhard (Bill) and Edna had five
children together as they made their home in Walton, KS. Edna loved
the Walton community and lived there most of her life.
In 1982, Edna retired from Hesston
Corporation, where she had worked as a machinist. She was a member of
the Koerner Heights Church in Newton, KS. She was an avid quilter,
enjoying gardening and yard work.
Survivors include her daughter Judy
Oakley of Wichita; grandchildren Mike (Carol) Hiebert of Newton;
Julie (Phil) Nowak of Stillwater, OK; Kim (Kurt) Summers of Sedgwick;
Lisa (Jon) Hochstetler of Valley Center; Chad (Shannon Ehlers) Runco
of Sandpoint, Idaho; Cherish (John) Edwards of Newton; Josh
(Kathy)Tatum of Guyton, Georgia; Joy Ariel Tatum of Itepela, Niassa,
Mozambique, and one daughter-in-law, Connie Griswold of Newton. She
is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and 1 great, great
grandchild.
She is proceeded in death by her
parents and siblings, her husband, Bill; sons, Marlin Hiebert and his
wife Jan, Larry Hiebert, and Roger Hiebert; daughter, Karen Runco and
her husband Vince, daughter Judy Oakley's husbands J.D. Tatum and
Larry Oakley; grandson, Corbett Runco, and great grandson Nathanael
Hochstetler.
Friends may call at the funeral home
Friday after 1:00 PM where the family will receive friends between 7
and 8 PM.
Graveside services and interment will
be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday (August 22, 2015) at the Walton
Cemetery.
Followed by Memorial Services at 10:30
at the Koerner Heights Church in Newton.
A memorial has been established with
the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Contributions may be sent to
