NEWTON — Betty L. Webb went to be
with her Lord on Tuesday (Feb. 14, 2012) in Newton.
She was born on Nov. 20, 1924, in Ponca
City, Okla., to Leatha (Young) Lemons.
She married Clarence Webb on Nov. 8,
1947, in Arkansas City. They were married for 64 years.
Betty was a member of Second Baptist
Church of Newton. She loved her church and reading the Bible. She
enjoyed reading books about grammar and could have been an English
grammar teacher. She enjoyed quilting and stitch work. She made
individual quilts for each grandchild, which are valued and treasured
keep sakes. Her family will remember her as a good cook and one who
loved and took great delight in her children and grandchildren.
Betty spent her final years in
specialized care at the Kansas Christian Home. She struggled with
Alzheimer’s until she was called home to her Lord. Betty was a dear
lady who touched many hearts. Her passing leaves much emptiness, but
the family’s happy memories will survive. They look forward to a
joyful reunion together in Heaven one day.
She is survived by her husband and
longtime companion, Clarence Webb; sons, Chris, Glen and Stan Webb;
daughters, Brenda Papin and Connie Reaves; and eight grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
mother, Leatha Lemons, and her sister.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m.
Friday at Greenwood Cemetery. The public is invited to a book signing
from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Because
the church was so important to Betty, a memorial has been set up for
Second Baptist Church, in care of Petersen Funeral Home,
