Obituary
Clinton C. Koppes, of North Newton,
Kansas, died on November 25, 2015 at age 96.
The son of Daniel Atlee and Melinda
Koppes, he was born on September 10, 1919, in Newton, Kansas.
He is survived by his brother, Dean and
wife Linda, of Newton; three children, Clayton, of Cleveland, Ohio,
Barbara Beal , of Glen Carbon, Illinois, and Duane, of Newton,
Kansas; and a granddaughter, Katherine Pruess, of Jamaica Plain,
Massachusetts.
His wife, Effie, died in 2012. They had
been married in 1944.
Clinton graduated from Newton High
School in 1937 and Bethel College in 1942. He was a devoted alumni
supporter of the college.
He served in Civilian Public Service
during World War II. After farming with his parents, he worked as a
pressman at the Mennonite Press for more than thirty years.
Clinton served on the North Newton City
Council. He was a devoted volunteer at Bethel College's Kauffman
Museum and with the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program. He was a
member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church.
He was an ardent traveler, antique
hunter, and railroad enthusiast.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Monday (November 30, 2015) at the Bethel College Mennonite Church,
North Newton. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home
Sunday between 1pm and 6pm, where the family will receive friends
between 3pm and 5pm.
A memorial scholarship fund has been
established with Bethel College, contributions may be sent to the
funeral home.
