Obituary
Lois Eileen (Nitzsche) Selzer, age 85,
passed away Oct.26, 2015 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, KS.
She was born March 17, 1930 in rural
Amenia, ND to Albert and Katie (Roth) Nitzsche and came to Hesston,
KS as a teenager to attend Hesston High Academy. She met her husband,
Merle, while there and they raised their seven children and farmed
near Hillsboro, KS.
Lois was active in the Spring Valley
Mennonite Church. She enjoyed gardening and always had a big garden
to provide vegetables for her family. She grew beautiful flowers and
continued to raise African violets while in the Villa. She liked to
travel and enjoyed new experiences with an active curiosity about the
world around her. She loved to play games – especially Scrabble –
and socialize. Her family was an important and much appreciated part
of her life.
She is survived by her children and
their spouses: Robert and Shari of Anchorage, AK; Kenneth and Deb of
Leawood, KS; Karen and Rick Hankins of Hesston, KS; Becky and Chuck
Mislo of Marietta, GA; Doug and Chris of Newton, KS; Don and Mary of
Cullowhee, NC; and Jim (Ervin) and Cheryl of Chesterfield Township,
MI; as well as twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her
siblings are Opal Ripley and Willard Nitzsche of Hesston and Mae
Mumaw of Medina, OH.
She is preceded in death by her husband
of 60 years, Merle Selzer; three grandchildren, Gina Hankins, Kellie
Doyle, and Matthew Mislo; and her brother, Dale Nitzsche.
A memorial service will be held at
10:00 AM, Saturday,Nov. 7 at Schowalter Villa, with inurnment
immediately after, at the Spring Valley Mennonite Church cemetery.

Hesston, Kansas.
