Luella Mae Lohrentz (1933 - 2015)
Obituary
Luella Mae Lohrentz, 82, went home to
be with her Lord and Savior, August 13, 2015 at Kidron Bethel
Village, North Newton, Kansas. She was born April 4, 1933 in Dalhart,
Texas, the daughter of Ed E. and Martha (Androes) Wiens.
She attended schools at Inman, Kansas,
graduating in 1951. She married Vernon Lohrentz on June 1, 1953 at
Inman, Kansas. Luella earned a BA degree from Bethel College in 1955
and a master's degree from the University of South Dakota in 1977.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior
at a young age and was baptized upon her confession of faith in 1949
making Jesus the Lord of her life.
She was a stay at home mother, a
pastor's wife, a teacher, then later a payroll accountant, retiring
in 1988. She enjoyed flowers, photography, quilting, and playing
piano.
Survivors include her husband Vernon of
North Newton, 3 sons Paul (Pam) Lohrentz of Hutchinson, Kansas, David
(Megumi) Lohrentz of Madison, Wisconsin, Tim Lohrentz of Petaluma,
California; 2 daughters, Jean Lohrentz of Newton, Kansas, Susan
(Carl) Lohrentz-Lind of Seattle, Washington; 1 brother, Eldon (Lila
Jean) Wiens of McPherson, Kansas; 2 sisters, Glenna Heidebrecht of
McPherson, Kansas; Doris (Gene) Mengarelli of Prescott, Arizona; 11
grandchildren, Lyssa Newport, Anika Lohrentz, Megan Kluesner, Crystal
Hicks, Whitney Bandel, Dylan Bandel, Emmi Lohrentz, Kylie Lohrentz, J
P Lohrentz, Ben Lohrentz, Saige Lind; 2 great grandchildren, Caden
Kluesner, Kingston Kluesner. She was preceded in death by her parents
and 1 brother, Wilbur.
Per her request cremation has taken
place and a gathering for friends and family will be at 3:00pm
followed by a celebration of life at 5:00pm, Sunday, September 13,
2015 at the Shalom Mennonite Church, 800 E. First Street, Newton,
Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial
fund to Shalom Mennonite Church.
Memorial services for Luella (Wiens)
Lohrentz will take place, Sunday, September 13, at Shalom Mennonite
Church, 800 East First Street, Newton. Visitation with family is at
3pm and the Celebration of Life service is at 5 pm. A fellowship meal
will follow.
