Mary Esther Loganbill, 85, died on
Friday, August 28, 2015 at Kidron Bethel Health Care in North Newton
of complications from a stroke suffered in the last week of her life.
She was born September 21, 1929 to
Herman R. and Selma Louise (Voran) Graber in Newton. She married
Lanoy E. Loganbill August 6, 1950 in the Bethel College Chapel in
North Newton. Lanoy followed her in death eight days later on
September 5, 2015.
Mary Esther was a life-long member of
the Bethel College Mennonite Church. She was active in the life of
the congregation serving on numerous committees and teaching Sunday
school classes. She also served on commissions for the wider
Mennonite Church USA and since its inception contributed many
volunteer hours for the Mennonite Central Committee's Et Cetera Shop
in Newton.
Mary Esther's interests also included
local Newton history, literature, quilting and cooking until dementia
progressively took away her ability to enjoy these passions in the
last decade of her life.
Preceding her in death are her parents;
one brother, Max H. Graber (Arnita); sister, Anne Converse (Harold).
Surviving her are son, Frederick Loganbill (Renee Sauder) of
Kitchener, Ontario; daughter, Deborah Goering (Preston Goering) of
Newton; son, Joseph Loganbill of Newton; and 5 grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Mary
Esther's life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
at the Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton.
Memorials have been established with
the Bethel College Mennonite Church and Mennonite Central Committee,
both in care of the Petersen Funeral Home.
