Wilma R. Graber, 92, died Thursday (Jan. 22, 2009) at Kidron Bethel Healthcare in North Newton.
She was born Oct. 5, 1916, near Weatherford, Okla., to John T. and Ida (Stucky) Albrecht. They preceded her in death.
She was raised on a farm in rural Kingman County. After graduating from high school, she attended Bethel College in North Newton.
In 1938, she married Harvey N. Graber, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1982.
Wilma was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton, where she remained active as long as her health would allow. She volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Newton and enjoyed playing dominoes with her many friends.
Family was very important to Wilma, and she greatly looked forward to spending time with her loving family.
Survivors include sons, Max Graber and wife, Loretta, of Salina, Ron Graber and wife, Terry, of Des Moines, Iowa, Michael Graber and wife, Marty Graves, of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Tony Graber and wife, Sue, of Newton; daughters, Judy Johnson and husband, John, of Lawrence, and Corliss Young and husband, Allen, of Kingman; sister, Luella Fotoplos of Wichita; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Mennonite Church in Newton, with Pastor Joan Boyer of the church officiating.
Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel College, Kidron Bethel Village or First Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
