Obituary

Dorothy Jean Unruh, 81, of Boise, went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 13th, 2015.

Dorothy was born to Waldo W. and Dorothy Mae (Ewy) Janzen on January 17th, 1934 in Newton, Kansas. Dorothy graduated from Halstead High School in 1952, then attended Emporia State College. In 1954, Dorothy married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Harold Unruh, where they resided and raised a family in Halstead. They were blessed with two amazing children, son Tim and daughter Vicki.

Dorothy and Harold relocated to Boise in 1982. Dorothy was a member of multiple bridge clubs, attended church functions, but her passion was spending time with her beloved four grandchildren. Dorothy was an incredible grandmother, hosting sleepovers, arranging shopping trips, movie outings and lunches at Olive Garden.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harold; her son Tim (Laci) Unruh, Las Vegas, NV, daughter Vicki (Sam)Kirby, Kuna, ID; grandchildren Pamela (Andrew) Schank, Kuna, ID, Amy Kirby, Nampa, ID, Brian (Annie) Unruh, Sacramento, CA, and Christine Unruh, San Diego, CA; great-grandchildren Troy, Tyler, and Isabella Schank. Dorothy is also survived by her sister Virginia (Larry) Berger, Kansas City, KS.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo W. and Dorothy Mae (Ewy) Janzen; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Bobbi Janzen.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 21st at 11:00 am at Summit Church on Overland Road in Boise. Services are under the direction of Summers Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel.

Family requests all donations be made to the Boise Rescue Mission.
